Reflections

SIDEWALKS
October 3
I moved from one to the other
From paved roads to dusty ground
Like a boat swept by a nowhere current
I tried my soul to stay in place.
There are patterns, there are rhythms
There are songs and probably legends
But the core and the tune of it all
Remains with Him, my God, my all.
And as the wind blows from east to west
As if trying to hide within my shoulder
As it sinks within a weary soul
The sidewalks invite another traveler.
When dawn breaks, waking up a frightened child
Breaking the cradle from a youthful dream
As if another year is over
Continues to pass the sidewalks of life.
