MARGINALIZED YOUTH IN FOCUS 

The Diocese of Balanga in collaboration with TESDA and the Asian Touch Interntional Institute has launched a program to assist the youth of Bataan who cannot afford college education to receive training for future job placements locally and abroad. The BARISTA Course offers modular classes in restaurant service and coffee preparation as well as increased proficiency in English. The first batch graduated fifty out of school youth who are now waiting for placements for their on-the-job training. Poor youth from marginalized communities in Bagac, Balanga and Orani continue to avail of the program. Conducted every other week, the Barista course will help our youth to gain employment and contribute to the transformation of society according to the plan of God. The teaching of Catholic catechism and the habit of daily prayers are part of the training program. This program is not just aimed at generating jobs but the promotion of the values of the Kingdom of God.

ARTISTANG (kum) PARE! PARING ARTISTA(hin)! 

Selected priests from the Diocese of Balanga and some movie actors led by Christopher de Leon will play an exhibition basketball game on September 28, 2007 at the Bataaan People's Center, Capitol Compound, Balanga City at 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon. The game intends to generate funds for the formation and education of the poor and out of school youth of Bataan.  

On the evening of the same day, there will be a Dinner with the Stars to be held at Loui's Resort and Restaurant in Balanga City at 7:00 o clock in the evening. Government officials led by Bataan Governor Enrique Garcia will join Bishop Socrates B. Villegas and the Catholic benefactors of the province in this evening of songs and entertainment.

The proceeds from the benefit dinner will be used for the youth scholarship programs of the Diocese of Balanga.

Tickets for both events are available at parish offices and at the campus ministry desks of the schools and colleges of Bataan.
