The endless train of footsteps reached the stairwell The breeze from the river began to freeze my shoulder And the thin smoke from the subway blurred my eyes Like stars across the sky.
From afar is the skyline I began to love And no music could hide a deafening cry And no wine could ease a coming goodbye Like stars across the sky.
So in between life's journey we traveled, we played Not the score, not the distance, but the game And the dreams just flowed like burning flame The memories hidden and left unsaid.
Like stars across the sky Be mindful of an old man's lullabye When many years past and looking back On this park bench, I sat with a friend Dreaming dreams, breathing life Like stars across the sky.
